We expect our teeming unemployed youths to embrace this programme and get at least one hectare – Nyako
The CBN Head, Development Finance, Maiduguri office, Mahmood Nyako, revealed this while launching the distribution of farm inputs to cotton farmers in the northern part of the state.
Nyako said the bank’s Anchor Borrowers program would support farmers with fewer than 10 selected commodities to ensure sufficient food for post-COVID-19.
He said there would be more support for farmers, with the relative peace in the state.
Nyako said,“We expect our teeming unemployed youths to embrace this programme and get at least one hectare; we give from one to five hectares under the Anchor Borrowers. If they embrace farming, unemployment will dramatically reduce.“
Improved seedlings, fertilizers and pesticides are among the items presented.
