Abbo Backs Call To Impeach Buhari, Says President Has Failed Nigerians

Elisha Abbo, an All Progressives Congress (APC) senator, has applauded and backed the senators of the People’s Democratic Party’s effort to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari given the country’s current level of insecurity.
In an exclusive interview with Channels Television on Friday, Senator Elisha Abbo, who represents Adamawa North senatorial constituency in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, expressed his views.
In Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Abbo addressed on the sideline of the APC Northern Christian Leaders summit.
The lawmaker claimed that he fully supported the president’s impeachment motion and that the Nigerian president had failed in his fundamental duty to protect the lives and property of the populace.
There have been allegations of renewed attacks by terrorists and other armed non-state actors at various locations across the nation, in some cases killing security personnel.
Senator Philip Aduda, the minority leader in the Senate, had urged on Wednesday that President Ahmad Lawan of the Senate hold a discussion about the country’s security situation and President Buhari’s impeachment.
However, Lawan had refused the command, which caused some members who had been elected on the platforms of political parties other than the APC to leave the legislative chamber while the plenary was still in session.
All of the senators elected on the platforms of political parties other than the All Progressives Congress (APC) left the legislative chamber while the plenary was still in session, incensed by the Senate President’s move.
Later, they gave President Buhari a six-week deadline to address the security problems plaguing the nation. They threatened to start impeachment procedures against him if he did not do so.
The House Minority Caucus gave the President a six-week deadline to address the country’s security issues, despite the Presidency’s assertion that the members’ move was merely a threat with no real consequence.
