Abigail Marshall Katung Re-elected Re-elected In Leeds City Council Election
Mrs. Abigail Marshall Katung, a Nigerian resident in the UK, has been re-elected for a second term to represent Little London and Woodhouse Ward in the 2023 Leeds City Council elections.
Her victory was announced by Tom Riordan, the Returning Officer of the elections, after she garnered 1,908 votes.
She contested the election on the platform of the Labour and Co-operative Party, defeating four other contestants including Mr. Lalvani Nick of the Green Party who polled 437 votes.
This is not the first time Mrs. Abigail Marshall Katung is contesting the local elections in Leeds. She first contested and won the election in May 2019, polling 1,749 votes to emerge as the Elected Member for Little London and Woodhouse Ward of Leeds City Council.
Her re-election is a testament to her impressive performance in her first term in office.
Mrs. Abigail Marshall Katung is the wife of Nigerian Senator Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung has pledged to continue advocating for affordable, healthy, and nutritious food for all, as well as tackle climate change.
She has also committed to a five-point agenda, which includes campaigning for safer communities, tackling hate crime and anti-social behavior, advocating for a reduction in health inequalities, promoting an active lifestyle, and campaigning against government cuts and the cost of living crises.
Mrs. Abigail Marshall Katung is currently the chair of the Scrutiny Board for Adults, Health & Active Lifestyle, Chair of the Hate Crime Strategic Board, Chair of the Strategic Board for Further Education 14-19 years, and Lead Member for Faith & Religion.
She has demonstrated her commitment to the welfare of the people she represents and will no doubt continue to work toward their betterment. Born to Nigerian parents from the Southern part of Kaduna State, Mrs. Abigail Marshall Katung is a proud representative of the Nigerian community in the UK.
