Atiku Misrepresented me in his Interview – Nyesom Wike

In an interview with a major television network, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike accused Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar of fabricating allegations against him.
Following the primary election, where Atiku won the position of the opposition party’s presidential candidate for 2023, the PDP was thrown into turmoil.
Wike was selected as the presidential candidate’s running mate after Atiku defeated him in the primaries, but Atiku ultimately chose Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Although Atiku’s selection had caused discord among PDP officials, the governor of Rivers chose to remain silent about the post-primary issue.
Additionally, he met with the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties on a number of occasions, expressing concerns about his future with that party.
Atiku claimed in an interview with ARISE TV that Wike was not the best choice for his running mate because he preferred an “amicable” partner.
[quotation name=’Atiku’]Governor Wike was not rejected. Nobody was rejected in the party. But you must understand that it’s the prerogative of the candidate to pick his running mate — a running mate he believes he can work with amicably, and then also deliver the policies of the party, and also try to unify the country.
“Governor Wike is a brilliant politician. He’s courageous, tenacious. I believe he has a future in the political evolution of this country. It’s not a question of rejection. Certainly, not. I think it’s too harsh a word to say that we rejected governor Wike.[/quotation]
Wike had stated that Nigerians would learn the truth about recent events in the party when he finally speaks, in apparent response to Atiku’s interview.
After returning from Spain on Friday, Governor Nyesom Wike spoke with the media and accused Atiku of fabricating evidence against him.
[quotation name=’Governor Nyesom Wike’]I have decided to be quiet because PDP is a party I love so much. I have moved on to conclude my social contract with the people of Rivers. However, it is time to let Nigerians know the truth.”
“I am not a slave and will not be a slave. I am freeborn of the country.[/quotation]
Wike criticised Atiku Abubakar’s address, which was given the day he announced Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.
Additionally, he charged that the former vice president had propagated false information about him by employing certain top leaders of the main opposition party.
The governor vowed to answer each of Atiku’s “attack dogs” individually and line by line.
