BREAKING: Buhari Asks Senate to Retain Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as CJN

On Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari urged the Senate to approve the appointment of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the nation of Nigeria’s actual Chief Justice (CJN).
When the plenary resumed, Senate President Ahmad Lawan read Buhari’s letter of request.
The current Chief Justice of the Nation in the interim office is Justice Ariwoola.
Justice Olukayode Ariwoola assumed the office in an acting capacity on June 27 when Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad resigned due to illness.
14 Justices of the Supreme Court had petitioned Justice Tanko Muhammad prior to his departure, claiming poor welfare and flagrant manipulation of the supreme court’s assets.
To ascertain whether or not the claims in the petition are true, the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters are investigating the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad.

Four non-executive directors were also proposed by Buhari for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
For appointment as Non-Executive Directors of the CBN, the Senate is anticipated to review and confirm the nominees.
Professors Mike Idihi Obadan (South South Zone), Odinakachukwu Oniabuko (South East), Jalingo Mohammed (North East), and Adeola Adetunji are among those nominated (South West).
