Dr. Yusuf Buba Yakub, the Director-General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), reaffirmed his commitment to serving humanity with unwavering dedication. He made this declaration during a prestigious event in Abuja, where he was honoured with a Professional Fellowship Doctorate by the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria (ICEN). In a heartfelt gesture, he dedicated this esteemed accolade to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledging Tinubu’s commendable leadership within the short span since assuming the presidential office.

Expressing gratitude to the President of ICEN and its Governing Council for recognising his contributions, Buba emphasised his belief in a brighter future under the administration of President Tinubu. Despite the present challenges, Buba remained optimistic, citing positive economic indicators as evidence that, under Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria is destined for improvement. He likened the current struggles to the pains of childbirth, asserting that these temporary hardships would pave the way for a rejuvenated Nigeria.

Buba spoke confidently at the event, accompanied by esteemed directors of the Corps, including Ambassadors Mohammed Mohammed and Lawal Ishiaka Adekola, alongside other staff members. He stood firm in his conviction that significant progress was underway and emphasised the need for perseverance during these transformative times.

Professor Christopher O. Balogun, the Director-General of the Institute, urged recipients of the award to equip themselves with statistical tools and economic analyses. He stressed the importance of presenting facts objectively while cautioning against undue criticism of the government. Balogun further emphasised the imperative of combating corruption, encouraging all members to collaborate with institutions like the Independent Corrupt Practises Commission (ICPC) and the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to eradicate societal ills.

The conference also saw the conferral of the institute’s doctorate upon outstanding individuals such as Mr. Ajayi Kehinde Daniel, Dr. Wulangs B. Yoshi, and Mr. Oyedeji Adeyemi. Additionally, numerous professionals were inducted as members, contributing to the discourse on leadership and economic governance through insightful presentations.
