President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, according to Deji Adeyanju, Co-Convener of the Concerned Nigerians Group, is funding bandits and should be held accountable for the country’s rising security issues.

Adeyanju wondered why Sheik Gumi, who is always soliciting and calling for ransom for robbers, has yet to be appended by the Buhari-led government in a tweet on Friday.

According to him, the government would have gone to great lengths to put
an end to the bandits’ relentless kidnappings and killings of innocent
people.

He also wondered if Gumi had a share of the kidnapping transactions and why he was still alive.

â€œWhat I can never understand is Gumiâ€™s desperation for these terrorists to be paid always.

â€œDoes he have a cut in these transactions? And it appears Gumi is
working for some people in Govt, if not why tolerating all these stuffs?

â€œIâ€™m yet to understand why the President of the Federal republic of
Nigeria finding it hard to put Gumi and his cohorts behind bars if he
isnâ€™t a participator or a supporter to the crimes and ill-happenings in
the country,â€ he said.

Remember the controversial Islamic cleric Gumi urged the Kaduna State government to pay a ransom for the abducted Greenfield students’ release?

Gumi, commenting on the governor of Kaduna’s refusal to compromise, said that no sum of money is too large to save the lives of students.

He urged Governor Nasir El-Rufai to pay the abductors the 100 million ransom demanded, then go after them and recover the ransom after the students are rescued.
