The Forbes list of the most valuable sports teams in the world for 2021 includes nine football (soccer) clubs, which is already dominated by NFL franchises. However, there are as many football clubs as there are basketball teams, while baseball has just six teams.
Forbes uses ‘revenue and operating income adjusted for revenue sharing, which provide the economics of each team’s arena contract but not the value of the real estate itself’ to measure a team’s value, which is equity plus net debt.
The Dallas Cowboys dominate the overall list with a $5.7 billion
valuation, followed by the New York Yankees and New York Knicks, all of
whom have valuations of at least €5 billion.
