Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, the Chief of Army Staff and ten other Soldiers, in a jet crash in Kaduna on Friday died

Sen. Ali Ndume, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, has expressed grief that Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), died at a time when his leadership was most required in the country’s struggle against banditry and terrorism.

Ndume, in an emotional statement released in Abuja on Saturday, called Attahiru’s death a national tragedy.

The COAS, according to the representative of Borno South Senatorial District in the National Assembly (NASS), died a noble hero.

Attahiru and his staff, according to Ndume, are dedicated and patriotic Nigerians.

The senator stated that the team has already begun implementing methods that the Nigerian Army would require to deal with external and internal forces endangering the country’s peace.
