Declare Shuaibu Musa ‘s seat vacant in order to expel the APC – Ribadu to Adamawa Speaker

Mustapha Atiku Ribadu, the organizing secretary of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, has asked the speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, to declare the seat of Shuaibu Musa, the member representing Mubi North, vacant in the spirit of fair play.
Shuaibu Musa announced his departure from the APC, on whose crest he rode to become a state legislator for Mubi North district, in a letter to the speaker dated 14 June 2022.
Ribadu, in a statement made accessible to journalists on Thursday, warned the speaker against employing double standards by refusing to proclaim the lawmaker’s seat vacant for the sake of political correctness, claiming that such conduct would jeopardize his personal and family reputation.
”
I want to call on the speaker to in the spirit of decency, morality, fair play and justice declare the seat of Shuaibu Musa vacant for dumping APC on whose platform he became a lawmaker.
“Nigeria’s constitution stipulates that the seat of lawmaker belongs to a political party and since Shuaibu Musa has dumped our party, his seat should be declared vacant.
“By this we are not asking for too much considering that the house recently declared the seat of the member representing Michika constituency, Joseph Ayuba Kwada (Depolis) vacant for defecting from PDP to APC.
“We are watching with bated breath to see whether he will do justice or pander to the whims and caprices of his political interests and threw decency and morality to the dogs.
“But I want to assure him his ability to do justice to this matter will make or mar his political destiny. Therefore, it is left for him to do what he deemed right but should remember history is on the side of the oppressed,” he remarked.
