Gattuso signs a two-year contract with Valencia

Valencia have appointed Gennaro Gattuso as their new head coach, with a contract that runs until June 2024.
Jose Bordalas, who was fired after only one season of a two-year contract, was replaced by the AC Milan legend.
Valencia had finished eighth in the league and had lost the Copa del Rey final to Real Betis.
Despite the fact that Jose Bordalas hadn’t been fired yet, rumors about the appointment had been circulating for weeks. Nonetheless, it appears like the sale will be completed.
Gattuso joins Valencia after a long career as a player and a coach, according to Valencia.
Gattuso was met at the airport by a large group of local reporters. He spoke briefly to the press to confirm that he would be the new manager of Valencia.
“I am very happy, it’s the first time I have been to Valencia and I am happy, very proud. I have signed a contract with a centurial club, with a lot of history and honour,” he said.

He began his coaching career in 2012, working with teams like AC Milan and SSC Napoli, with whom he won the Coppa Italia in 2020.
Gennaro Gattuso led the Rossoneri for 18 months after being named in November 2017.
During his one complete season in command, they missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification by a single point.
Later, he became the manager of Napoli, which he led to Coppa Italia success in the 2019/2020 season.
Gattuso left a year later, though, after the team missed out on the UEFA Champions League for the second time.
The 44-year-old was named Fiorentina’s new manager in May of last year, only for the two sides to call off the deal a month later.
Before that, Gattuso previously managed Sion, Palermo, OFI Crete, and Pisa before returning to AC Milan—initially with their Primavera team.
During his 13-year career with AC Milan, Gattuso earned two Serie A crowns and two UEFA Champions League medals.
He also won the 2006 FIFA World Cup with Italy.
