GWSD Advocates, Trains and Sensitized Adamawa Communities on Domestication of the VAPP Bill

Women led groups, Local CSOs, People Living with Disabilities (PLWD), Youths, Traditional and Religious leaders in Yola-North and Mubi South LGAs participated in a series of activities such as advocacy, capacity building trainings, and sensitization as organized by The Global Women for Quality and Sustainable Development Initiative (GWSD) funded by UN Women to jointly collaborate in advocating for the domestication of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Bill in Adamawa State
According to GWSD, the VAPP Bill was passed into law by the Adamawa State House of Assembly after due processes and a clinical copy was sent to the Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his consent.

law prohibits female circumcision or genital mutilation, forceful
ejection from home and harmful widowhood practices. It prohibits

VAPP provides a legislative and legal framework for the prevention of
all forms of violence against vulnerable persons, especially women and
girls. The law also prohibits economic abuse, forced isolation and
separation from family and friends, substance attack, depriving persons
of their liberty, incest, indecent exposure, among others.
