What you need to know about Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba

Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba was born on August 20, 1967, in Ibadan, Nigeria.

He was admitted to the Nigerian bar in 1989 after getting his LLM at the University of Lagos and his PhD at the University of Jos.

From 1999 to 2003, he was the head of the House of Representatives committee on Land, Housing, and Works, before running for governor of Imo on the APP platform in 2003, 2007, and as a CPC candidate in 2011.

In 2013, he was the secretary of the Constitution Drafting Committee. This group wrote the constitution for the merger committee that created the All Progressives Congress, or APC.

In 2003, Nwajiuba ran for governor of Imo State, defeating the incumbent governor, Chief Achike Udenwa of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

From the time of the APP to now, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba has been President Muhammadu Buhari’s most dependable ally.

He was in charge of the political pressure group that bought President Muhammadu Buhari’s papers for the 2019 All Progressives Congress, APC, nomination and expression of interest.

Nwajiuba, who is still a core APC member, was elected to the House of Representatives in 2019 to represent Okigwe North Constituency on the Accord Party’s ticket.

Soon after becoming a minister and being questioned by the Senate, he left the opposition party and joined the APC, which was the party in power.
