In Ibadan, a man sets himself, his wife, and two children on fire.

In Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, four people are said to have died in a house fire started by a man who was dumped by his lover.

According to reports, on Wednesday night, April 7, Ahmed Saka attacked his children’s mother, Mutiat, at their apartment and set the building on fire, killing himself, the woman, and two other children.

Mutiat had been living with Saka in the Shogoye region of Oyo State, but
she recently announced that she was no longer involved in their
relationship and that she would be leaving him for good.

Saka, on
the other hand, was enraged by the development and has threatened to
kill her for leaving their marriage. Saka, true to his word, set fire to
their home on Wednesday night, April 7, killing Mutiat and two children
and injuring four others with serious burns.

Apart from Mutiat
and Saka, two children, Ramon Sarumi (10) and Abiodun Oladele (seven),
were also killed in the blaze, according to reports. Bisola Oladele,
Lateef Sarumi, Aishat Sarumi, and Wosilat Sarumi are among those who
have suffered serious burns.

One of the neighbors, Olaide Aliu, is said to have reported the incident to Mapo police station about 5:10 a.m.

The
Divisional Police Officer in Charge of Mapo and other detectives were
sent to the scene as a result of this. After taking photos, police
officers transported the bodies to the mortuary of the State Hospital in
Adeoyo, Ibadan, for autopsy. The survivors of the fire are being
treated at the Anglican Diocese Hospital in Molete, according to
reports.

CSP Olugbenga Fadeyi, the state police command’s
spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said an investigation into the
matter has begun.
