KIDNAP: Nigerian Police Rescues 27 Victims

The Nigerian Police confirmed on Monday that 27 victims
kidnapped earlier by unknown gunmen from a secondary school of the Northwestern part of Kaduna State was released.

The Police said
the kidnap happened in the early hours of Monday by a group of unknown
Gunmen at Bethel Baptist High School in Damishi town, Chikun local
government, taking away an unknown number of students.

A Police Spokesperson, Mohammed Jalige, in Kaduna said security
operatives were immediately mobilized to the areas after the police
received a report that armed bandits gained access into the school, in
the statement sent to Xinhua.

Jalige said,

‘The gunmen
overpowered the school’s security guards and made their way into the
students’ hostels, where they abducted an unspecified number and took
them to the forest’.

The Police Spokesperson said a joint team of
the Nigerian Police, Army and Navy succeeded in getting 26 students
rescued and a female teacher while in search of the abductors.

He also said the rescue operation will ensure that all victims safely return.
He said ‘Such a dastardly act of Criminality against innocent children’ as strategic measures will be taken henceforth.

The high rate of gunmen attacks in Nigeria recently has led to a lot of deaths and abduction in so many parts of the country.

The increase and constant kidnap cases in the country are quite alarming and need to be tackled by security operatives.

People should be vigilant and cautious of their whereabouts and who they relate to.
