Lawan urges striking NASS workers to call off Strike, embrace dialogue

Ahmad Lawan, who is the President of the Senate, has asked the striking National Assembly workers to stop their strike and talk to each other instead so that they can quickly settle their differences.
Lawan made the statement at a conference called by him to find a solution to the remaining concerns between the National Assembly’s workers and management.
Workers at the National Assembly, who are represented by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), have been on strike since Monday.
They want some allowances to be paid, but the strike will last for as long as it takes.
“I want to urge you, whenever we disagree, let’s try to come and sit and talk about it because when we talk, we are able to find some common grounds and solutions. I am very happy that we have been able to deal with this,” Lawan remarked.
The Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, the Senate Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi, and the Senate Deputy Chief Whip, Sabi Abdullahi, were all present at the meeting.
The National Assembly Clerk, Arch. Ojo Olatunde, and the Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Ahmed Amshi, as well as several top National Assembly officials, represented the NASS management.
Comrade Mohammed Usman, President of PASAN, led his compatriots who are PASAN officials.
After both sides said what they thought about the problems, the Senate President told the workers that he would talk to the right people to get the problems fixed as soon as possible.
In his last comment, Comrade Mohammed Usman, who is the president of PASAN, said that he would tell his fellow PASAN members about the meeting’s decision.
