MAU to Award Honorary Degrees, Graduate 63 First Class and 80 PhDs at 27th Convocation Ceremony
Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, is set to hold its 27th convocation ceremony. The event, which will see the award of certificates, diplomas, degrees, higher degrees, and honorary degrees, is expected to take place on May 13, 2023, at the university’s convocation square.
As the university gears up for this important event, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Liman Tukur, held a pre-convocation press briefing to update the public on the preparations for the event.
Honorary Degrees to Be Awarded
One of the highlights of the 27th convocation ceremony is the award of honorary degrees to deserving individuals. Among the recipients of the honorary degrees is the former Governor of Adamawa State, Boni Haruna. Haruna will receive a Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) in recognition of his contributions to the development of Adamawa State and the nation at large.
Also set to receive an honorary degree is the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III. The Sultan will be conferred with a Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) in recognition of his contributions to national unity, peace, and development.
63 First-Class Graduates
In the upcoming convocation, the university will also graduate a total of 63 first-class students. These exceptional students have distinguished themselves in their various fields of study and have demonstrated academic excellence throughout their time at the university. Their outstanding performance is a testament to the quality of education and training they received at the institution.
80 PhD Graduates
In addition to the first-class graduates, the university will also award 80 doctoral degrees to deserving candidates. These individuals have successfully completed their research work and defended their theses in various fields of study.

Appreciation for NUC, TETFund, and NAICOM
During the pre-convocation press briefing, Professor Tukur also expressed the university’s appreciation to the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), and the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) for their support and contributions to the growth and development of the university.

According to Professor Tukur, “We cannot thankless the roles played by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the endless it offers at all times. We appreciate most sincerely the giant effort of TETFund, for the various interventions ranging from physical structures to capacity building for staff through routine training in workshops and conferences, sponsorship for academic fellowships, and research endeavors. TETFund footprints can be seen all over the University. We equally appreciate the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) for registering its presence on our campus by building a block of Professorial Officers for the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences.”
Appreciation for the Press
Finally, Professor Tukur thanked members of the press for their support and cooperation in disseminating information about the university to the public. He described them as “members of the fourth estate of the realm” and expressed the university’s appreciation for their tireless efforts in reporting on the institution’s activities.
“We want to specifically thank you, ladies and gentlemen of the press for your tireless support and cooperation. You all, members of the fourth estate of the realm have time and again acted as emissaries disseminating our messages. We value and appreciate you,” he said.
