Major General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has encouraged Nigerians to continue to support and own the Nigerian Army.
He made the announcement today, Monday, July 5, 2021, in Mpape Community, Bwari Area Council, Abuja, at the flag-off of a free medical outreach in honour of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2021.
Nigerians should be proud of their army, he says and should do whatever they can to assist NA activities around the country.
He also stated that the NA will continue to have a positive relationship with law-abiding individuals under his leadership.
The COAS, in launching the exercise, stated that the medical outreach was part of NA’s corporate social responsibility program, which intended to give back to the community.
He took use of the occasion to urge community members, as well as other Nigerians, to continue to submit reliable information in support of ongoing efforts to combat criminal groups.
He disclosed that the free medical outreach is going place in all of the NA’s formations and units around the country at the same time.
Colonel Idris Solebo, Acting Corps Commander Medical, had earlier indicated that the choice of Mpape Community in the Federal Capital Territory was intentional and that it was made in anticipation of a large number of beneficiaries in the region.
He also stated that the community will gain greatly from free medical services such as blood pressure checks, free medical and dental consultations, as well as free eye screening and corrective lens distribution.
Free breast examinations to check for lesions and masses, free cervical cancer screening/cryotherapy treatment, free blood glucose checks, free prostate cancer screening, and free medicines for common illness conditions were also added to the list of services.
