Nasarawa Police Re-arrest Kuje Prison Escapee

According to Cable News, Hassan Hassan, a suspected escapee from the Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre (Prison), was apprehended once more by the Nasarawa State Police Command on Saturday.
“On July 9, 2022, at about 1:30 am, one Hassan Hassan ‘M’, whose name and picture was amongst the escapees with Boko Haram/Terrorism Case, was recaptured by the police operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command at Keffi,” the statement read.
The suspect had been moved to a safe area, according to Nansel, and the appropriate authorities will now take further action.
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered for the transfer of the suspect to a safer location while the intensive search for other escapees continues.
“The fugitive will be handed over to the appropriate authority for further action,” it read.
Residents were urged by the announcement to offer information that could aid in the capture of the eluded prisoners.
On Tuesday night, ISIS militants launched an unrestrained attack on the Kuje Medium Security Custodian Center (Kuje Prison) in the West African Province in the early hours of Wednesday.
On Thursday, the Senate harshly denounced the facility’s management.
The armed men had sophisticated weaponry and explosives to launch their attack, defying early attempts by jail security to fend it off, the report says.
Over 800 of the facility’s roughly 1000 prisoners had escaped, however, police claimed that half of them were already in custody.
The Islamic State of West Africa Province issued a brief video on Wednesday night claiming responsibility for the attack after all Boko Haram suspects detained inside the facility had fled.
