NASS reports that the NPower Program has benefited 400,000 young people

According to the House of Representatives Committee on Poverty Alleviation and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN), the NPower Program has benefitted 400,000 adolescents.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja, Rep. Balarabe Salame, the committee’s chairman, said the success was achieved during his time as chairman.

The NPower, according to NAN, is an initiative launched by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016 to combat young unemployment and promote social development.

The legislator, who represents Sokoto State’s Illela/Gwadabawa Constituency, said that the NPower and SMEDAN programs have effectively reduced poverty in the country.

”There are so many committees, one can make millions from, but I asked for a committee that will touch the lives of the masses and I was given the Poverty Alleviation Committee.

“Before now, no accountability was made for funds the government allocates for poverty alleviation, but since I assumed as chairman of the committee, 400,000 youths were given NPower.
