Nigerian Government Suspends Salaries Of 331 Civil Servants

Mamman signed the suspension circular on behalf of the HOCSF, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, according to the statement.

The Federal Government says it has suspended the wages of 331 federal officials for failure to update their Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) as was ordered.

Mr Mahmuda Mamman, Permanent Secretary, Career Management office, made the news in a statement published by Mr Abdulaganiyu Aminu, Director, Press and Public Relations, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF) on Saturday in Abuja.

Mamman signed the suspension circular on behalf of the HOCSF, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, according to the statement.

The circular was sent to all permanent secretaries, the Accountant General of the Federation, and the Auditor-General of the Federation, according to the statement.

â€œThe salaries of 331 federal civil servants have been suspended on
the IPPIS platform for their failure to carry out the online records
update of the HR Module of Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information
System.

â€œAnd also, who failed to participate in the physical verification
exercise. â€œThis emerged from a circular ref: HCSF/CSO/HRM/T/41 issued on
9th June, 2021.

â€œAnd signed on behalf of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation,
Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan by the Permanent Secretary, Career Management
Office, Mahmuda Mamman,â€ the statement Added.

Despite all of the circulars instructing MDA personnel to update their records online on the IPPIS verification site, according to Mamman, certain employees in the main MDAs failed to follow the orders.

â€œAs a result of this, they could not also participate in the physical
verification exercise that was carried out between June 2018 and
December 2020 as their records were not found on the verification
portal,â€ it stated.

The Human Resources (HR) Module of the IPPIS records update project was started to eliminate ghost workers from the service, save government spending, and assure accurate personnel records.

According to Mamman, the circular also instructed concerned officials to report to the Director’s Office (IPPIS-SW) in the HOCSF’s office for more information and clarity.
