NSCDC captures an alleged kidnapper in Gombe

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) apprehended a 25-year-old suspected kidnapper from Shongom Local Government Area of Gombe State for an alleged attempt to kidnap a 70-year-old Usman Mohammed in Koburga, a border town between Billiri and Kaltungo Local Government Area.
Our source claims that Lawal injured the victim to varying degrees in the ear and shoulder areas.
State Commandant of the NSCDC, Waziri Goni paraphrased the suspect on Tuesday, describing him as a serial kidnapper who had previously caused security services trouble and had wreaked havoc with his gang.
Goni acknowledged that the citizens’ cooperation allowed the corps to end the attack and urged them not to give up on spreading truthful information that would promote peace in the state.
The NSCDC Commandant claimed that Lawal was active near Shongom, Billiri, and Kaltungo. He detained individuals for murder and ransom. God is merciful that our officers went there after receiving pertinent information, and at the conclusion of the day, he was captured with a pistol, a cutlass, and other weapons. By God’s mercy, the bullets they fired at Mohammed missed him entirely after they had cut him with a cutlass.
“The remaining members of the gangs, about four others, ran away with their AK-47s and some other rifles. They are the notorious gang that roams about in the Gombe metropolis, they gave headaches to security agencies. Thank God we have one of them and about six others in prison and the other four, by God’s grace, we will get them,” he said.
Goni continued that kidnapping had developed into a catastrophe ready to engulf the public and that sanity will be restored through synergy.
“The operation became successful due to my officer’s intelligence report and the collaboration from residents. Thank God they (residents) have realised their roles, they called us. Intelligence agencies across the world become successful because of information, we have security at nooks and crannies but they are to call us ours is enforcement,” Goni added.
He continued by saying that the suspect would be promptly put on trial and that efforts were being made to see the legal procedures through.
Mohammed, the victim, described his horror to journalists, saying that the perpetrators broke into his Koburga home at one in the morning and shot at him even though it did not cause harm.
He said,
“I was fast asleep around 1 am when the suspect entered with his gun and other weapons. He shot but didn’t get me, but he used the cutlass to cut my ear and my shoulder. It was then my child of 33 years heard the sound and came to find out what happened only to realise a strange person in our house, and then, a fight ensued.”
Mohammed said, “there was nothing, it was just the will of God that when the suspect shot, he didn’t get him, not that I have charms or anything,” in response to why the bullet didn’t hit the target.
