We need values rejuvenation; we need to hold every Nigerian together; we have to go back to the basis
The training was conducted by the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre in Jos, according to Mr Jonah Bawa, Managing Director. Participants included vigilante and other volunteer security groups from Yobe and Adamawa states.
Bawa revealed this during a visit to Mr Buki Ponle,
the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Abuja. He
clarified that the training is a joint arrangement with UNDP to improve
skills among JTF members in the field of security and leadership.
explained that the Federal Government founded the center in 1951 to
provide useful national resources through training programs.
“We have also trained another set of drug addict groups under the UNDP.â€
“The centre provides training on character development and value
orientation, adventure and challenge as well as compassion and service.
“It also provides training on social and environmental
responsibility, patriotism and nationalism and international
consciousness, among others.â€
“We need values rejuvenation; we need to hold every Nigerian together; we have to go back to the basis.â€
“We need training to offer good leadership to our society; we shall help
to let people know the activities of the centre,’’ Ponle said.
