PDP Primaries: What is Fintiri Afraid of?

As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Gubernatorial Primary Elections on May 23rd, 2022 approach, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, is becoming increasingly jittery, running helter-skelter to ensure that Mohammed Jameel Abubakar-waziri, the only aspirant who purchased Expressions of Interest and Nomination forms to challenge him, is excluded from the primary election.
In an attempt to prevent Ambassador Jameel from voting in the primaries, Fintiri is commuting between Yola and Abuja on a daily basis.
The EFCC’s big searchlight on Fintiri’s operations keeps him moving between Yola and Abuja, which is like moving between his living room and bedroom.
Many people are astonished, if not perplexed, that an incumbent governor is so scared of being challenged in the primary elections.
According to rumors, the Deputy National Chairman (North), Umar Iliya Damagum, and the National Treasurer, Ahmed Yayari Mohammed, took money and promised to use their power with the NWC to get Ambassador Jameel disqualified so that the current Adamawa Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, could run unopposed in the primaries.

In the history of Adamawa state, no incumbent governor has ever shown such anxiety about facing someone in the primary as Fintiri is doing today. Ardo, welcome!
Senator Girei ran against former Governor Boni Haruna in the PDP primaries in 2003. Despite being the political godson of then-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Boni Haruna did not try to dissuade Senator Girei from running; instead, he spent his time and energy campaigning, and Senator Girei received only 2 votes in the primary. In a democracy, this is politeness.
In the PDP gubernatorial primaries in October 2012, Dr. Umar Ardo ran against incumbent Murtala Nyako. With over 854 votes, Nyako was declared the winner. Ardo claimed he had dropped out of the race before the votes were cast.
On October 4, 2018, Mahmood Halilu Ahmed (Modi) ran against Bindow Umaru Jibrila, the incumbent. Bindow won with 193,656 votes, while Modi received 15,738, and even Nuhu Ribadu, who had withdrawn from the primaries, received 8,364 votes.
What is Governor Fintiri afraid of, given his tenure, state resources, “flyovers,” and claim to be a skilled planner and strategist? Why is Fintiri so afraid of being challenged by Ambassador Jameel, whom Fintiri defeated in the PDP primaries in 2019 when he (Fintiri) was not a governor?
In the 2019 PDP primaries, Fintiri received 1,656, Ambassador Jameel received 465 votes, Bala Ngilari received 78 votes, Aliyu Umar received -8 votes, and Garba Dankani received 1 vote.
Fintiri’s aversion to being challenged in the PDP primaries on May 23, 2022, indicates that he knows something we don’t. The Adamawa delegates might know why Fintiri wants to be the only candidate in the May 23, 2022 Adamawa PDP Gubernatorial Primary Election.
