PenCom Publishes a list of Businesses that may be Eligible for Government Contracts

Just 15,418 organizations out of over 3.1 million registered companies in the country can do business with the federal government, according to the National Pension Commission.
The list, titled ‘schedule of employers issued with certificate of compliance with provisions of the PRA 2014 as at 10 May, 2021‘ was obtained by Ripples Nigeria on Thursday from the PenCom website.
The identified organizations can now bid for contracts in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies for the year 2021, thanks to the clearance.
Eligible companies with at least three
employees have met the minimum requirement of opening a pension plan and
a life insurance policy, according to the National Pension Act’s rules.

issued to employers that businesses without insurance coverage for their
employees would no longer be allowed to do government business.

PenCom referenced the Pension Reform Act of 2014 Section
4(5) and Section 5.5 of the provisions for employee life insurance
policies in its notice to employers.
“Suppliers, contractors or consultants bidding or soliciting for
contract or business from any Federal Government ministries, departments
and agencies, must fully comply with the provisions of the law and will
now issue annual pension clearance certificate to eligible
organizations,†and MDA are reminded to ensure that only pension
clearance certificates issued by the commission are accepted as evidence
