Plane fails brake, rams into fence at Lagos airport

The accident happened at the tarmac beside Bristow Helicopter Hanger 3.

On Friday, a plane belonging to Jedidiah Air crashed into a fence at General Aviation Terminal (GAT), Murtala Muhammed Airport’s local wing, Lagos.

The incident occurred while the 5N-HIS King Air 200 jet was reparking at the tarmac near a Bristow Helicopters plant.

An eyewitness who talked to The Nation said that the accident occurred because of brake failure.

“The accident happened at the tarmac beside Bristow Helicopter Hanger 3.

However, there was no passenger on board and the pilot sustained no injury.

“The brake of the jet was not functioning at the time which led to the collision of the jet with the fence of Bristow Helicopter hanger,” the eyewitness told The Nation.

The incident was confirmed by Mr Tunji Oketumbi, spokesperson for the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB).

He disclosed that a team of investigators were dispatched to the accident scene for an investigation to begin.
“They will submit their preliminary report to ascertain the cause of the accident.
