Police Inspector Killed As Gunmen Attack Kogi Station

Earlier today, when gunmen attacked the command’s office, there was a shooting exchange at the Okehi Police Area Command in Kogi State.
According to reports that reached theGazetteNGR, the attackers used explosives to dynamite the command office and murder an Inspector while carrying out the attack.
The attackers invaded the command in the early hours of Friday, according to William Ovye Aya, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, who confirmed the deadly incident.
He said that CP Edward Egbuka was immediately apprised of the development.
CP has also ordered the deployment of additional operational assets, including members of the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Quick Response Unit, and State Intelligence Bureau working in coordination with other security agencies to restore normalcy in the area, he continued, adding that Egbuka had visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.
The attackers escaped according to TheCable, after the Area Commander and a local military detachment arrived on the site and engaged in a gunfight with the police inspector, according to Egbuka.
Aya reaffirmed the commitment of the command to collaborating with other security agencies and patriotic stakeholders to make the state a safe place for everyone.
The most recent incident comes just two months after the Islamic State in West African Province, ISWAP, claimed responsibility for the horrific murder of Nigerian Police Force members in Kogi State on April 23, 2022.
Recall that a few days prior, roughly six unidentified gunmen stormed a station in Kogi State’s Adavi Local Government Area. According to reports, the terrorists shot at the on-duty police officers as they stormed the police station from various points.
