Protesters in Dakar, Senegal, show their support for Palestinians

A march in Dakar, Senegal, drew 2,000 people to show support for Palestinians who have been bombarded by Israel in recent days.
They gathered in Dakar’s Nation’s Square on Friday beneath Palestinian flags, asking that the right thing be done.
Spokesperson for religious organization, ’’Jamra’’, Mame Matar Gueye, expressed his sadness saying,
‘We condemn the dishonourable attitude of some countries that
rush to support the Israeli executioner, providing him with money,
arms, and political support in international meetings to justify
Israel’s crimes against humanityâ€.
The protestors were responding to a summons from a coalition of approximately 40 religious organizations in Senegal, where Muslims make up 95 percent of the population.
Politicians and members of civil society backed them up.
The government has taken the position of siding with Israel.
This is what we do not accept because we consider that Israel is doing
imperialism to Palestine, with the clear complicity of the international
communityâ€, a Protester, Cheikh Aldiouma Ka, said
Senegal has long been a staunch supporter of Palestinians on the international stage.
The West African country co-sponsored Security Council Resolution 2334, criticizing Israeli settlements in Palestinian areas, in December 2016.
Senegal has ties to Israel, which was one of the first countries to recognize the country’s independence in 1960.
President Macky Sall called for “de-escalation†last week. The
