Remove Emefiele now as CBN Governor – Amb. Lawal Calls Out

Ambassador Hamza Lawal has urged the Presidency and National Assembly to relieve the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, of his job immediately following the finding of his political partisanship by an international election monitor.
In a conversation with journalists on Saturday in Okene, Kogi state, Ambassador Lawal, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Connect Development (CODE), made the call.
Lawal, who was in Okene for the 25th coronation anniversary of the Ohinoyi of Egbira land, Dr. Ado Ibrahim, held at his palace, suspected that Refueled may have played a role in the election materials in his hands.
“The job of the Central Bank as the custodian of the economy is too sensitive to be left in the hands of a politician as his decision would be colored by political considerations,” Ambassador Lawal stated the following.
The current attempt by Emefiele to run for President has exposed him as a politician, according to him, and he should be removed to allow him to concentrate on his political career.
He encouraged the President to act quickly, either by asking him to quit or dismissing him outright, or by passing a vote of no confidence in him while still serving as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
“As for me, I have already passed a vote of no confidence in him as the economy has witnessed a downward trend since he took over the CBN over seven years ago.”
While congratulating Dr. Abdulrahman Ado Ibrahim, Ohinoyi of Ebira Land, on his 25th year on the throne, Ambassador Lawal suggested that traditional rulers be given more responsibilities in governance.
Traditional rulers, he argued, should be given sensitive tasks to administrate since they were “quite near to the grassroot.”
Traditional rulers should be given more responsibilities so that they can effectively manage and improve the security architecture of their jurisdictions, according to him.
As a result, he urged Nigerians to rally behind their traditional rulers and provide them with as much support as possible in order for them to succeed in carrying out their responsibilities.
