SENSITIVE PHOTOS: Three farmers Hacked to death on their farms by Unknown Persons in Wukari, Taraba

Dr. Daniel Adi, the chairman of the Wukari council, confirmed the incident to our correspondent and expressed sorrow at the way and manner in which innocent people were being sent to their graves by hoodlums.

Inquiring as to why there has been an uptick in insecurity, he urged both the state and federal governments to respond by deploying more security personnel to the region.

Though The Gazette cannot confirm whether the attackers were Tiv, Hon Adi expressed his belief that the attackers were Tiv militiamen who had been terrorizing the city.

He said,

Adi urged the citizens of the council to stay calm and not take the law into their own hands, promising that the council’s leadership will collaborate with security operatives to find the perpetrators.

A relative of one of the deceased told The Gazette that the government should go to any length to find the killers of the three farmers, whom he identified as law-abiding citizens of the country.

Should the government refuse to act, the family and community will be left with no choice but to launch a retaliatory strike.

When contacted for more details, David Misal, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said that the command is still awaiting an official report of the incident from the council’s Divisional Police Officer (DPO).

Apart from the recent spate of kidnappings and armed bandit activities that have engulfed the state, especially the southern geopolitical zone, which includes the Wukari, Takum, Ussa, Donga, and Ibi councils, the ongoing Cold War between the Tiv and Jukun has continued to cause concern among indigenes.
