Sexual Assault: Herbalist aged 62 rapes a minor in Adayama

Sexual Assault | Godwin Sanda, a 62-year-old herbalist accused of raping a 14-year-old girl with a mental illness, is currently chilling in a police cell in Adamawa State.

The accused was detained by police on July 23, 2022, for the claimed offence. He is a resident of the Zangun community in the Numan Local Government Area.

On Sunday, the police leadership through a statement said that the suspect had committed a sexual assault on a victim who had been brought to him for medical attention.

The victim, who had a mental illness, was brought to the suspect for possible medicine, and the man reportedly told the victim’s mother to send her back home until the suspect recovered, according to the police.

According to SP Nguroje, the suspect took advantage of the victim’s mother’s five (5) day absence to gain illegal access to the victim’s information.

He said that after raping the woman, she left his property and went back to her parent’s home, where her parents then reported the incident to the Numan police.

According to CP S. K. Akande’s office, the Sexual Assault suspect is currently the subject of an inquiry at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), SP Nguroje continued.

It recommended the general public, in particular parents, to exercise caution around dubious people in their areas and to always seek professional advice before making decisions, particularly when it came to matters involving health in general.
