Taylor Swift Set to be the first female recipient of the Prestigious #BritAward for Global Icon

Taylor Swift is having a year to remember after it was announced that she will be the first female artist to receive the Brit award for global icon.

Swift will be honored at the O2 Arena in London tomorrow night during the award ceremony.

According to the awards’ organizers, she was honored for ‘her enormous influence on music around the world’ as well as ‘her remarkable repertoire and accomplishments to date.’

The American singer is also up for an award in the category of foreign female solo artist, which will be her sixth Brit nomination.

Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Swift’s seventh UK No. 1 song, was released last month.

In just 259 days, she had released her third number-one album.

Swift also made history in March by becoming the first female artist to win the Grammy Award for Album Of The Year three times, with her album Folklore.

She re-recorded one of her earliest albums after the rights to the songs were sold and she couldn’t afford to buy them back, in an unprecedented move.

Fearless was her second album, and it catapulted her to international fame with hits like Love Story and You Belong With Me.

‘Art I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I made up and paid for with the money I collected performing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums,’ she wrote on Tumblr, lamenting the loss of her own music.

As the UK’s lockdown restrictions loosen, 4,000 people are expected to attend this year’s festival, which will be hosted by Jack Whitehall.

Three awards have been nominated this year for Dua Lipa, Arlo Parks, Celeste, rap duo Young T & Bugsey, and DJ and producer Joel Corry.

Jessie Ware, Bicep, and rappers AJ Tracey, J Hus, and Headie One have all earned two nominations.
