The ‘Children of Blood and Bone’ Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi Got Signed by WME

Known for her creative piece and New York Times bestselling, ‘Children of Blood and Bone,’  which was published by Henry Holt Books in 2018 Tomi Adeyemi, a Nigerian-American author, has signed with WME.

Adeyemi, who is just 23, landed a high-profile publishing contract for her debut book, which remained at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list for 25 weeks. The first book in the Legacy of Orsha series, Children of Blood and Bone, won the Andre Norton Nebula Award for Young Adult Science Fiction as well as the Hugo Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book.

The story is set in the fictional land of Orsha, and it follows Zélie Adebola, a young girl who recalls a time when Orsha’s soil hummed with wonder. Burners sparked fires, Tiders beckoned waves, and Zélie’s mother, the Reaper, summoned souls. The night magic vanished, and everything changed. Maji were killed on the orders of a cruel dictator, leaving Zélie without a mother and her people without hope.

Now is Zélie’s last chance to restore magic and overthrow the monarchy. Zélie must outwit and outrun the crown prince, who is hell-bent on eradicating magic for good, with the aid of a rebel princess. Danger lurks in Orsha, where vengeful spirits lurk in the waters and snow leoponaires prowl. The greatest threat, however, can come from Zélie herself, as she struggles to control her abilities—and her growing feelings for an adversary.

Children of Virtue and Vengeance, the sequel, was published in 2019 and debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list. Disney and Lucasfilm are adapting the Children of Blood and Bone trilogy into a feature film.

Adeyemi, who earned an honors degree in English literature from Harvard University, was recently named one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People and one of Forbes’ 2020 30 Under 30 in Media.
