U17 WAFU B: Golden Eaglets to Face Cote d’Ivoire In The Semi-Final

The Junior Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire will play the Golden Eaglets in the semi-final of the ongoing U17 WAFU B tournament.
The five-time World champions dominated the group round, defeating Ghana’s Black Starlets and Togo’s Junior Hawks to go to the last four.
Cote d’Ivoire, which defeated Niger 6-1 in their second group encounter, has been confirmed as Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets next opponent.
On Saturday afternoon, they were defeated 4-2 by Burkina Faso in their last group encounter.
Despite the loss, they finished second with 3 points, trailing Burkina Faso, who had a total of 9.
Niger upset Benin Republic by defeating them 3-1, although despite having the same point as CIV, both teams were eliminated due to goal differential.
Burkina Faso will meet Ghana in the other semi-final.
The winners will represent the area at the U17 African Cup of Nations in Algeria in 2023.
The Super Falcons have 23 players in camp as they seek to defend their African title in Morocco.

Randy Waldrum had the support of 23 players out of the 32 called up, but three of them failed to show up for training.
Assisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, and Captain Onome Ebi, four-time African player of the year, were superb in training, as were both goalkeepers, Chiamaka Nnadozie and Tochukwu Oluehi.
Toni Payne, Mitchell Alozie, and Amanda Mbadi were put through rehabilitation exercises after arriving from their camp in the United States of America.
Five players will join the club in Morocco, including Leicester City’s Ashleigh Plumtre, Halimat Ayinde, and Francesca Ordega.
The Super Falcons will open their title defense on July 4 in Rabat against arch-rivals, the South African Bayana Bayana, before facing debutantes Botswana three days later and Burundi on July 10.
